HDR Magic

This presentation will cover some of the soup and nuts of HDR High Dynamic Range photography which has helped Wayne win several print competitions at NCPP (Northern California Professional Photographers), and receive merited prints at PPA (Professional Photographer of America) International Print Competition. It seems that HDR is a huge buzz word with photographers, and among the public sector. If you have never tried HDR or have tried and didn’t like the results, or want to produce a WOW HDR image then this presentation is for you.  In today’s competitive market we need to differentiate our photography from the next guy, and HDR is one of these tools.

Want to WOW your clients? Want to have images that POP? Want to know some of the deep dark secrets of HDR? Want to break that creative block as an artist? Want to know what the hell HDRIR means?

Wayne will explore and demystify HDR, and show you how to wow your clients with HDR. He will explain the basics of how to set up, shoot and show you how he renders HDR images with Photomatix/Enfuse and final polishing in Photoshop.

About the Speaker:

Wayne Miller is a Certified Professional Photographer with a Portrait Specialty Endorsement and operates a residential studio in Clayton, CA. He is a member of NCPP, and current President. Bitten by the photo-bug at age 6, photo journalist in high school, commercial photography as a contractor, landscapes to portraits and everything in between.  Awards: NCPP Photographer of the Year 2009, and PPA Showcase 2009 image.

Wayne has had a passion for photography loves working with people, children and portraiture was a natural fit. His passion for the art shows in his style of photography and he is always trying new creative tools in his work.

Four Nights instructors volunteer to present their programs and are also busy working photographers. Please do NOT contact instructors regarding their session. A student may cancel 5 days or more before the start of the series, with a $20 non-refundable administration fee. After that date, no refunds are possible.

Our March 15 speaker will be Laurie Klein from Brookfield, CT. She will be presenting a program on “What’s your Niche? - Niche photography, branding and marketing for photographers in 2012″

Every successful photographer has to find a way to distinguish themselves from others. Defining that difference, or that niche, requires an in-depth examination of a photographer’s art and where it fits into the market. Photographers will learn how to discover and access their niche market and the myriad ways to become successful. Participants will leave with greater clarity and a clear, detailed plan for the future.

For over 40 years, Laurie Klein has been known as both a photographer with a signature style, and an instructor of exciting workshops that help photographers discover their unique, strengths, passions and joys.

Laurie graduated with a BFA from R.I.T. and then received her M.F.A. in photography from Ohio University. Laurie had the opportunity to be mentored by Ansel Adams, one of her heroes. He taught her that discovering one’s own artistic voice was the gateway to becoming a fine artist. Today, she is recognized mostly for her signature infrared photography. Her work embodies a soft passionate style that most often depicts the feminine experience, relationships and landscapes.

A member of the invitation-only Cameracraftsmen group, she is the author of Hand Coloring Black and White Photography, a contributing writer for PPA magazine, Rangefinder and Photocraft Source Book. Her work has been published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Interior Design, House Beautiful, Ladies Home Journal, Brides Magazine, Modern Bride, and others.  She has appeared on the Sally Jessy Raphael Show, Discovery and Lifetime Television. Her work is held in private collections and museums. She has presented programs for PPA, WPPI, state conventions, Western CT State University, University of Bridgeport, Ohio University, and others.
